DNT took over Finsehytta from the Norwegian Directorate for Enemy Property in 1947 and the cabin has been run as a staffed tourist cabin since 1949. The cabin has 150 beds split between 2-bed, 4-bed and larger rooms.

It is disabled-friendly. The cabin is situated 300m from the railway station on a peninsular in lake Finsevatn, with panoramic views across to the Hardangerjøkulen glacier. The hosts at Finsehytta are Rigmor and Edvar Sæbø

Breakfast: 07.30 – 09.00.
Serving of lunches, waffles, evening meal/soup of the day between 12.00 – 17.00.
Evening meals: 19.00 and 21.00.

Finsehytta believes in using local food with low food miles and we also have a microbrewery in the basement. We brew two types of pilsner ale: a dark pale ale and a light pilsner with a hint of wheat.

Activities and experiences

During the winter, Finsehytta offers every kind of activity linked to snow, skiing and glaciers. During the summer, the place is a natural hub for people cycling Rallarvegen or walking in the Finse area.
